Beach Clean Up by Tracey Jones
As part of my dive master internship I had to organize a beach clean-up. This was something I was looking forward to as I enjoy the feeling of achievement you get knowing that you are doing something to help the environment.
I had the help of Dan and Chris. We spent an hour picking up rubbish from the beach and shoreline close to Master Divers. This is an area of the beach we regularly clean and as usual we collected 20 plus glass bottles, lots of broken glass, 3 plastic bottles, countless cigarette butts, 10 hessian sacks and lots of odd bits of plastic, string, rope, and cds, however the overall volume of rubbish collected was less than on previous clean-ups which is a very good sign.
Master Divers will be taking part in Project Awares Dive Against Debris Campaign for the month of September. The issue is something that we take very seriously ever month ! If you want to find out how to get involved, then read more below.
