There are well over 100 mooring lines on Koh Tao and they are maintained by volunteers. Regular workshops are held to train local divers how to do this. The idea being the more people that know how to do it the faster mooring bouys can be replaced, repaired and installed. Mooring buoys are key to the health of the reef so that boats do not drop anchors which damage the coral.
This is what we are aiming to create …..Everyone split into stations to prepare various parts…Tomorrow we head out to install some of them ….. if you want to know more about the project and download presentations and how to information then click here.
The day was great fun – looking forward to diving tomorrow.
