The area near the cave entrance, where natural light is always visible, is defined as a cavern in diving. Here some awesome vistas await the intrepid underwater explorer.The fun part is exploring secrets hidden in caverns around the world and having the knowledge and skills to do it correctly.

With 4 dives over 2 days you'll progress from line handling, reel use and emergency procedures outside the cavern, where you will master the necessary techniques, before plunging into the cavern!

you learn about:

  • Cavern navigation and line protocols.
  • Planning, organisation, techniques, problems and hazards of cavern diving.
  • Special equipment use, such as lights, guidelines, reels and redundant breathing systems.
  • Air sharing, disorientation, silting, line problems and other emergency procedures specific to cavern diving.
  • Silt prevention, buoyancy control, air management and emergency procedures.
  • Depth and distant limits for cavern diving.

What Do You Need To Do This Course?To enroll in the PADI Cavern Diver course, you must be 18 years or older, have a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or have a qualifying certification from another organisation).

Where, When and How?The course can be split between Koh Tao and Khao Sok or completed entirely in Khao Sok. The PADI Cavern Diver course is conducted over 2 days and at least one days diving must be made in Khao Sok National Park.  If you wish you can stay longer in the park, do more dives and put your newly learnt skills into practice. Contact us for more options.

As a new dive destination, Khao Sok has been highlighted in a couple of magazines. Ayesha wrote for Underwater Photography Magazine about the challenges of taking photographs there and also for Scuba Diver Australasia about the benefits of proper training and equipment when entering caves or caverns.
