this is where the fun begins! get your ticket to the rest of the world!

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba diving course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle. This is your entry into the underwater world where you will enjoy the ocean's diversity, experience the colorful reef and meet all of its inhabitants.

The course has both water and academic components. We take you gradually through the concepts building on what you have learnt and ensuring practical application consolidates your learning.

on dry land:

You will learn the theoretical components by watching specially crafted PADI instructional DVDs and through knowledge development learnt along with your instructor and your PADI Open Water Diver manual.

At the end of each section you will discuss the key points with your instructor who will further develop your knowledge pulling on their vast experience. Once we feel you have understood, we ask you to complete a short quiz which simply lets us know if we need to explain some things again or in more detail.

There are 5 sections for you to complete after which we will ask you to complete a 50 question multiple choice exam. No need to worry as you will be a master of all concepts by the time you get to this stage!!!

In The Water:

We start you in very shallow water, just deep enough so you have an inch ot two of water over your head when you are kneeling down making it easy to stand up if you wish.

We start with some basic orientation exercises that will teach you how the equipment works.

We break every technique down into small parts so that you can master each portion gradually before putting it all together.

We teach you how to clear water out of your mask to ensure a comfortable dive and make sure you can see the underwater world clearly.

We show you how to deal with emergencies and how to control your position in the water too.

There are 20 techniques for you to master during which time we will gradually move you into water a little deeper.

Next there are 4 dives, your first 2 to a maximum of 12m and your final 2 to a maximum of 18m. On your final three dives you will repeat some of the exercises you have previously learnt so that you can demonstrate what a master you have become under the water.

In order to complete your course you must be able to swim 200m or snorkel 300m. There is no time limit and you can use whichever stroke you want. You also need to float for 10mins, you do not need to tread water - just float. These 2 exercises demonstrate your comfort in water but you do not need to be an Olympic swimmer to complete them!

we guarantee never to have more that four students in any course. this ensures high standards of learning, safety and enjoyment, as well as a professional and personal service. private tuition is also available, contact us for further details.
