Instructor Development Course (IDC)

PADI Instructor Development courses are run each month and are made up of three components which culminate in the PADI Instructor Exam (IE).

The initial four days qualifies you to the level of PADI Assistant Instructor. The Emergency First Response Instructor course lasts just one and a half days and is followed by the final portion, the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor course, which will have you ready to take the three day Instructor Exam (IE).

You can choose to take the whole course together or you can break it down to take each component separately allowing you to build up experience before progressing.

  • Sea and pool used for Confined sessions.

What you need to know

Who can take this course?

To qualify for training in our PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) you must be certified as a PADI Divemaster  or be an instructor in good standing with another training organisation for at least six months (Contact Us for qualifying credentials), be at least 18 years old, be certified as a diver for at least six months, have 60 logged dives that include experience in night, deep and navigation diving. You’ll need 100 logged dives to take the Instructor Exam. You must have proof of CPR and First Aid training within the last 24 months and be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement (PDF) signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

How much does it cost?

The Standard Package costs just 39,900 THB.

You will need to purchase a PADI IDC pack (which we offer at a discounted price of 15,500THB). This includes The PADI Instructor Manual with Decal, PADI's Guide to Teaching, PADI Specialties Instructor Manual on CD Rom, Business of Diving / Best of USJ DVD, Instructor cue cards for PADI’s core courses (OW, AOW, Rescue and Divemaster), IDC Candidate Workbook and related reference materials, Lesson planning slates for confined and open water and Quiz and exam booklets for the core courses. You will also need to purchase the EFR Instructor materials (discounted to 3,000THB).

There will also be further costs, payable to PADI for the Instructor Exam - AU$ 785, Instructor Application - AU$ 227 and Emergency First Response Instructor Application - AUS$ 156.

 

How long is the course?

Our Instructor Course is run every month and takes approximately 18 days in total. The Instructor Development Course (IDC) itself takes 15 days and includes the Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor, IDC Prep, Assistant Instructor (AI), Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) and Mock Instructor Examination (IE). The Instructor Examination (IE) is taken straight after your IDC and takes a further 2 days.

The course includes boat fees, high quality instruction from experienced and qualified instructors, lunch during the Instructor Development Course, tea, coffee, water and light refreshments on the boat.
