where to eat and drink in sairee
Sairee Beach and Village is by far the busiest strip of beach and is packed with bars, restaurants and resorts. It’s easy to get to if you’re staying close to Master Divers in Mae Haad - in fact most of our divers enjoy the walk along the beach and prefer to stay in Mae Haad so they get a quiet nights sleep.
BarracudaRun by one of our good friends Ed, this is one of our top picks ! Excellent seafood and fish dishes in a cosy and relaxed atmosphere. The cocktails aren’t too bad either ....mmmmm. Barracuda is located off one of the lanes running back from the beach. Look for the Queens Cabaret on you map and this spot is right next door. |
Porto Bello Mediterranean bistroRun by more good friends, Sarah and Paul, Porto Bello offers great pizza and pasta dishes as well as some fantastic salads and steaks. You’ll find this on the same road as Barracuda but on the opposite side and a little closer to the beach. |
Queens CabaretIf you’ve not checked out one of Thailand’s infamous lady-boy shows then why not check out the Queens Cabaret. Dont be scared – its great fun! Ayesha slipped backstage to bring you an article describing just what goes on back stage.

Choppers bar & grillChoppers is the largest sports bar and live music venue on the island. It’s an institution. Whatever sport you want – its on at whatever time. This venue has a huge range of imported beer and a great menu too. Watch out for their specials and free BBQs too. There’s live music every night ! Anyone will be able to point you in its direction but just in case – you will find it on the road in between the two 7-11s in Sairee. |
ZanzibarYou’ll find this bakery on the main road that runs from Mae Haad to Sairee. Its the first restaurant you get to on the left as you come into Sairee and opposite the large fruit stalls. This is our favourite sandwich spot but they also serve breakfasts, wraps, salads, bagels and pasta and western style soup too. The owners are friendly and the deliver too. |
Su ChilliSimple Thai restaurant just a little further down from Zanzibar. |
TiksLeave the 7-11 on the main road and walk up the road towards the boxing stadium. You will find Tiks on the left before the left hand turning. This place is a lovely Thai restaurant. Fast, cheap and tasty. They are very popular so if they are full then try one of the places close by ...this road has many little Thai restaurants and all are tasty and cheap. |
Simple LifeOpposite Blue Chair you’ll find this large dark wood restaurant. This place has to sell the best meat kebab BBQ on the island.....yummmy. The deck offers some great people watching opportunities. |
TongsAlmost next to Simple Life, Tongs Thai food has perhaps the most extensive Thai food menu on the island. |
FizzFizz is another great spot to watch the sun go down and party all night too. While it doesn’t get as hectic as the bars further south, great cocktails and great music mean a great night out. Comfy green bean bags ensure you’ll find it difficult to leave. They have a fab Mediterranean style menu too. You’ll find Fizz on the northern end of the beach but before Vibe. |
Office BarA strangely popular little spot which you might find yourself at after one too many. This has now expanded along the beach road slightly. You will find it if you walk down the path, south from 7/11 Sairee. |
Lotus barIf you head south from Vibe or Fizz then this is the first party bar you will find. The music tends to be quite random but you’ll find most people are quite ‘happy’. Keep an eye on your purse, dance, dance ,dance and you’ll have a great time. This place can get absolutely packed out and it can be difficult to get to the bar – but they do have the best fire dancers on the beach ! |
GoodTime AdventuresGood Time Adventures is located at the south of Sairee, passed Bans. They have recently opened a small bar and restaurant which has a quiet atmosphere and tasty food. A little haven from the busyness of this area. |
Fish BowlFish Bowl is the bar attached to Bans. There is always something going on. Good to watch sunset but the place really comes to life after dark. They have regular and late parties so watch for flyers. If you are walking and drinking your way down the beach then this is south of Fizz and closer to Cave, Maya and Intouch. |
maya barRun by our good friends Tanner and Janne, this is a perfect place to watch the sun go down and relax into the evening with cool tunes. Maya stays open late and often attracts some big name DJs – so watch out for posters! |
Southern Sairee Beach ClubsCave and Intouch are clubs on the South end of Sairee. One of them will have a party night each night so there is always something going on til the early hours. Head this way if you want to party til dawn. |
