JC started diving in 2006 with Desert Sports Dive Club in Dubai whilst working as a project manager
He realised that training people to dive was much less stressful than project management (LOL) and moved to Thailand to become an instructor in 2009. He is a big fan of the warm waters of Middle East and South East Asia, and has been threatening to write a book on underwater photography for the last 2 years.
John's other passion is paragliding – he has been scaring himself in the mountains around the world since 1996, with extra special heart stopping moments in the Alps and Himalayas. He has recently been presented with the EGD (Extreme Grand Dad) award by a cheeky young Scottish dive master who should remember that revenge is a dish best served cold!
JC was also an enthusiastic but not terribly gifted member of Epping Triathlon Club, but in 2003 he surprised one or two critics with golden oldie wins at the St Albans Sprint Tri and Culford Sprint Tri, plus a top 20 place in the Clacton Olympic Distance Tri. Believing he had regained his youth, he then joined Shaftsbury Cycle Club and somehow managed a second place in a 10 mile time trial. Inspired by all this adulation, he completed the 2005 London marathon in 3 hours 69 minutes, but was disappointed to be overtaken by a telephone box, gorilla and Womble on The Mall!
