Simone’s relationship with the ocean first started at the age of 12, when she began training as a volunteer lifeguard. From this she developed a love/hate relationship with the sea – she loved the water, but it was just too cold in the Netherlands to enjoy being in it for too long!
After several years of lifeguarding, Simone progressed to become a lifeguard instructor, where she taught children the basics of life saving and emergency response. Through this she found a new love of helping others, and enrolled in nursing school, after which she worked as a nurse for several years.
Simone became a diver on a short trip to Thailand, where she came across Koh Tao and signed up for a Discover Scuba Dive experience. One taste was not enough though, and she proceeded to complete her Open Water Course and Advanced Open Water Course. She tried to go back home to her ‘normal’ life, but it wasn’t long before she gave in and quit her job to come back to complete her Divemaster training. Then, after a short trip back home she returned to Koh Tao to complete her Instructor training with us here at Master Divers and is now one of the Instructor team.
