Wrecks hold an enchanting and mesmorising force over many divers - are you one of them?
If the need to explore is irrisistable and intriguing then the PADI Wreck Diver Specialty will teach you the ins and outs of rewarding, responsible Wreck diving.
The fun part of the PADI Wreck Diver Specialty is visiting wrecks, unlocking mysteries and starting to gain the knowledge and experience that allows you to see things that others overlook. Sometimes, only the trained, experienced eye recognizes that a small hole or open door likely caused the vessel’s demise.
What You Learn
- Techniques for diving and exploring shipwrecks, and how to avoid common hazards.
- How to research and learn the background of your favorite wrecks.
- Wreck diving equipment considerations.
- Considerations and techniques for entering intact wrecks.
- Experience in planning, organising and making at least 4 Wreck dives under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.
Wrecks seem to sit in deeper water which makes this Speciality good to take along with the PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty or the PADI Deep Diver Specialty.

where to from here?
Many shipwrecks are often found in deeper water. That’s why the PADI Wreck Diver specialty is a natural companion to the PADI Deep Diver specialty. Sometimes you can take these two Secialties concurrently. Other training to consider is the PADI Enriched Air Diver specialty on your way to the PADI Master Scuba Diver. If the allure of the deep pulls you in then you may want to consider technical diving.
A PADI Master Scuba Diver is a highly accomplished diver - this is the highest rating a non professional can achieve and as such, you will be held in high esteem. To qualify you need to be a PADI Rescue Diver, with 50 logged dives and qualifications in five specialities.
